What does paid UGC look like in practice?
A skincare brand might commission a short video showing a morning routine. A fitness app might need a screen recording with a spoken explanation. A local café might want a visit filmed from a customer’s perspective. Each is a content-production job with a subject, format and intended use.
For example, a café brief could ask for one vertical video showing the entrance, an ordered drink and a spoken description of the visit. That brief should also state the deadline, agreed fee, included changes and whether the café can publish the file on its own accounts. The creator should describe their actual experience rather than make up a recommendation.
Does UGC mean the same thing as influencer marketing?
There can be overlap, but the deliverable is different. A content-only UGC job buys production work. An influencer campaign usually includes publishing to an existing audience. A creator can offer either service, or both, as long as the agreement separates them.
Follower count may matter when a brand is buying reach. For a content-only commission, relevant examples, clear audio, a useful idea and reliable delivery help the brand assess the work. Calling a paid video “UGC” does not make it an independent customer review.
What should a UGC brief explain?
Start with the content and its purpose. Then make the scope explicit before filming. A short checklist is more useful than asking someone to “make it authentic”.
- What to film, including any claims that need support.
- The number of files, length, framing and caption requirements.
- Who publishes the content and on which channels.
- The agreed fee, payment timing, deadline and revision rounds.
- How long the content may be used and whether paid advertising is included.
How does Creator Club fit in?
Creator Club connects New Zealand creators and brands around briefs for videos and photos. Creators build a portfolio, apply for relevant opportunities and manage accepted work in a project workspace. Brands describe what they need and review applications before choosing a creator.
Public example briefs show possible formats. Sign in to see published opportunities and fees. Payment is currently arranged directly between the creator and brand under their agreed terms.
